Here’s the penultimate of four Burnhamania A-Team previews! Once more, I got a stack of preview art from TOM “BIRDMAN” WALTZ from the A-Team: War Stories one shots from IDW to share with my lurkers. And even though pictures are worth 1000 words, I’ll still be commenting… on to the FACEMAN, as drawn by Alberto Muriel.
This is the other Chuck Dixon heavy script. He took lead on Face’s adventure and man, I had NOTHING to add. It’s as perfect as comic scripts come.
Along with the charm, there’s a certain smarminess to Face. If anything sells that, it’s the expression on panel one. Am I wrong? Of course not. (And who asked you?)
With the way Face is eyeing that motorcycle on the monitor, he must be excited about finding a rerun of CHiPs! Or not.
The explosion in panel 2 is to remind us that this is a Chuck Dixon comic. The woman in panel four is to remind us that we’re dealing with Templeton Peck.
When I read this script, I thought to myself… well, first, that I needed to up my game on Murdock (and I think I met the challenge!) and second: I wish Chuck was writing an ongoing comic with this character, or one like him. I think you’ll feel the same!
To sum up: Dixon, Muriel, Faceman, and a damn fine race against the clock!
