Today, I recorded a podcast interview for Geekvolution — fun times, though it seemed like the off-air conversation was more fun than my babbling on Ghostbusters! lol.  Seriously, though, I had a blast.

I also got caught up on my sketch blogs.  I’m part of two –

Working diligently on the writing, having caught up on Ghostbusters and mailed off a pitch for another thing to IDW here this week.  Knock wood, fingers crossed, etc.  Hope to announce it soon, should I get it!

I hope to have a new NICK LANDIME collection for C2E2, but if I can’t pull that off, then I at least hope to pull a print together for the show.  Public domain fun.  If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

It’s 2012. I didn’t do anything special for New Year’s Eve; the roads were slippery. Am I that bad a driver? Hardly. But there are residents in the area I’m wary of with perfect road conditions, never mind slippery and foggy with possible alcohol in their system. (It’s okay to judge like that when it’s for your own safety.)

My brother was up; I don’t see him but once or twice a year, so we chatted. Played some Skyrim (which he bought me for Christmas) and then… I went to bed at 11:12 PM.  Didn’t ring in the new year. Don’t even have any resolutions.

Yeah, yeah, I’m a spoilsport.

But I do want to reflect a bit on the last year.

At the dawn of 2011, I was working in a job that I didn’t enjoy. The co-workers were fine and the work was easy, but I was bored out of my mind and it took time away from everything else I could be doing… which rankled me all the more.

And then, in March, the Ghostbusters tie-in to IDW’s Infestation event came out to rock solid reviews… which lead to me pitching for an ongoing series. The ongoing was approved by Sony, by IDW, and by September… it came out.

It sold out.  The first three issues sold out, in fact, and the reviews, the fan response, it was all great. And it allowed me (along with some other writing jobs) to leave the job I didn’t enjoy.

There were two other consequences to leaving that job; the good one – I got to have some free time this summer to spend with a friend who was in town for a few months. We went to a baseball game, and a concert, and hit some interesting restaurants none of my other friends or family would go near.  Good times.

The bad one – I’m sitting at a computer so much I put on 20+ lbs that I had previously lost, and need to lose again.  Oy!

This year I have some goals.  Not the same feel as resolutions, but things I’d like to get done…

* A new Nick Landime book for the character’s 10th anniversary. (This is close to a resolution; it may be tough to schedule!)
* Revamp this website.
* Run a 10K in April.

Three goals, and they are dangerously close to resolutions.  Ah, well.

I want to do some more traveling this year, too – so I’d better start earning some cash, huh?
