Commissions
I’m opening the books back up for commissions - like I used to - because hey, why not?
What kind of commissions do I do, you ask? Well, there are plenty. First up, let’s look at superheroes. I do a lot of these - many at conventions, of course, but a few come my way when I’m at home as well. There are four types of style you may choose from when you want a superhero drawing:
- Puppethead. This is sort of a take on the ‘chibi’ drawings that my sister so incessantly squeals over whenever she sees them. (Needless to say, I hide these drawings from her attention when I see her so that I may survive the experience with my hearing intact.)
- Zinger. Realistic body, big head.
- Nickish. My go-to style for sequentials, an amalgam of realism and cartoon.
- Grecian. Realistic. Well, realistic-ish. (;
Here are the starter rates:
You may have any one character, penciled, on 8.5/11 cardstock for $10. Inked for $12. With a dash of color or tone $15.
A generic background goes for an additional $5, a detailed background for $10.
Shipping is included in these prices.
11×17 paper will run the starter rates plus $20 ($5 of which for domestic postage.)
Them’s the superhero rates. That’s the easy stuff!
I will do cover recreations.
8.5/11 without recreating the text of the original: $25
11×17 without recreating the text of the original: $50
Add $15 for cover text recreation, $20 for inks, and $10 for toning. (Example, 8.5×11 fully inked and toned with cover text would be $70.) Shipping is included.
I will create original (inked, lettered) comic strips for $50… typically these are gag strips with superheroes and/or the commissionee (a la Fred Hembeck or Gary Larson.)
Other commissions will be priced according to interest or difficulty. (More art examples below, click to enlarge!)
